In Japan, dragons are considered as one of the powerful deities. There are many shrines that worship dragons and many folklores related dragons still remains in Japan. Blue dragon is also considered as a guardian of "East". (one of 4 gods , mythological guardians, of the four cardinal directions.) Example: Yasaka-Shrine in Kyoto.
